We Now Know Who Our Opponents in Vitonen Will Be
This season there will be 24 teams competing in Vitonen in the Tampere District. Just over one hour ago the highly anticipated allocation of teams into two subdivisions came out. TamU-K will play in the more southern subdivision, and the consensus around the Internet seems to be that we got the easier subdivision. However, the beginning of February is probably way too early to make such assessment, and for a supporter the more interesting question right now is what our away trip destinations are going to be.
And indeed, in terms of away travel the season looks great. Last year we had only one 25 km (15 miles) trip to Siuro, but now there are some really good ones. Here’s the list of teams, the city where they play, and the approximate distance from Tampere:
Janakkalan Pallo (Janakkala, 95 km / 60 mi)
Lammin Veto (Lammi, 90 km / 55 mi)
Sääksmäen Sopu (Sääksmäki, 40 km / 25 mi)
Viialan Peli-Veikot (Viiala, 40 km / 25 mi)
Vesilahden Visa (Vesilahti, 35 km / 20 mi)
Pirkkalan Jalkapalloklubi/2 (Pirkkala, 15 km / 10 mi)
AC Oldschool CF (Tampere)
FC Rellu (Tampere)
Hervanta Sporting Team (Tampere)
Tahmelan Vesa (Tampere)
Tampereen Palloilijat (Tampere)
Janakkalan Pallo, Vesilahden Visa, and Tahmelan Vesa got promoted from Kutonen at the end of lat season, whereas Lammin Veto got relegated from Nelonen. The rest played in Vitonen.
In addition to nice away trips, the schedule gives us nice away venues to play at too. At least Janakkala and Viiala have what you can call a stadium rather than just a field, and some of the out of Tampere teams have a good real grass surface. At least in Viiala there will likely be a significant number of home fans in attendance. Last season I even watched a live stream of one of their matches.
There will be a double round robin format (obviously) for a total of 22 matches. The Schedule will come out much closer to the start of the season, which is expected to take place in late April.
