Match Preview: Gonna Have Some Fun Tonight

Rain, autumn temperatures, and flood lights: these are going to be the elements of tonight’s match. Add an opponent desperately fighting against relegation and a home team where three or four players are fighting for the title of top goal-scorer in the team, and it should be a good night of football. We have already reached our goal as a team this year, but there’s still plenty of football left in the season.

The opponent Hervanta Sporting Team, or HST for short, is now just under the relegation threshold and need to move ahead of LaVe, who are three points ahead on the table. HST cannot get relegated today, but if they lose today, they have to rely on LaVe losing against the bottom team VesVi, and then win their last match away at LaVe by at least 4 goals. This guarantees a spirited fight tonight. They have won both of their two previous matches 6-0, so they seem to be in a good fall form as well.

TamU-K can play without any pressure. The highlight of the night is the return of Joonas Kupiainen into the lineup. It has taken way too long, and I do have to say I missed watching him play. I’m pretty sure watching Mika Kytöviita, Timo Kauppinen and Jan Irjala fight for goals and the title of our team’s top scorer will be fun as well. Jacin Dakkaki is also in that fight, but it seems he

wont be in the lineup tonight.

Of course many eyes within our club have already been turned towards the 2014 season. We have signed eight of our current players to a new contract, but the rest are still fighting for a spot next year, and I’m sure the coaches will be looking at everybody very carefully in the last remaining matches of the season. Oh, and those eight, in case you

hadn’t seen the news in Finnish last week, are goalies Ilkka Innola and Kalle Heltonen, defenders Timo Kauppinen, Antti Eijamo and Osku Airesto, midfielders/wingers Lauri Heittola, Petri Vadén, Jacin Dakkaki. A solid core for a team in Nelonen for sure.

But tonight it should be mostly about having fun on the field and in the stands as well. We have two matches in Vitonen left for our club, and we should enjoy them. See you in Kaukajärvi when the match kicks off at 7.15 pm!
