Join the Club!

Today the club released a new page where becoming a member of the club is easier than ever. You just need to fill out a simple web form and deposit the 25 € membership fee to the club’s bank account. The page is in Finnish, but there is no reason why our international friends couldn’t become members as well. To that end, the Google translated version of the membership page is surprisingly readable, so it should be easy to figure out all the relevant details from it.

In addition to an unusual chance to get directly involved in the decision making of the club that you support and a sense of belonging to something bigger than yourself, membership in the club now comes with benefits that put money directly into the pockets of the members of the club. Namely, quite a few of TamU-K’s partners are now offering discounts for our members. Personally I’m sure that I will be enjoying drinks and food at our partners often enough that the discounts that they offer will result in more than a 100 per cent return for my 25 euro investment into the membership of the club. I also hear that new membership benefits in addition to the discounts announced today are in the works.

The club has also been looking for volunteers ahead of the Finnish Cup first round fixture on Tuesday next week. Help for the table where scarfs, calendars and other club merchandise is sold is needed, and we will also have a volunteer announcer at the match. It looks like the club has already found the volunteers that are needed for Tuesday, but there will be many more chances to volunteer again during the season. Notably, the person who did all the announcer gigs last season will very likely start on the field as a central defender, so he is unavailable. I think this little detail speaks volumes about the spirit of our club. More United than ever.

I’ll get back to the upcoming Finnish Cup fixture later with the usual match preview. For now I encourage everybody to speak to their friends about joining the club. As everybody who went to the general meeting of the club back in October know, the money collected from membership fees constitutes a significant part of the club’s budget, so maintaining a solid membership base is very important.
