Dreams Come True – We Will Play at Pyynikki
The news came out earlier today that TamU-K will play the promotion semifinal match against FC PaPo at Pyynikki Stadium. This is a dream come true for the supporters, because this is the best venue for our club at the moment. It has a great wooden stand for a few hundred people, one that maximizes the volume of the supporters’ collective voice. I also think besides the singing supporters in Sinikaarti’s section, there will be a very significant number of other friends of Tampere United present at the match.
And the news get better: kick off is set at 7 pm sharp. This means that the match will be played under flood lights, which always makes the atmosphere better. The date is Sunday September 30, and it looks like sunset occurs a 6:58 pm that day, two minutes before kick-off. This means it will be quite dark when the match kicks off, and pitch black dark by the end of the first half.
Some supporters are maybe a little disappointed that the match will played on Sunday night rather than on Saturday. On the other hand, maybe it is a good thing that, if we win, the party will be somewhat muted due to the workday next morning. Winning this match does not necessarily mean anything unless we win again a week later in the promotion final – assuming of course that we even get there.
The supporters already have a prematch plan in place. We will meet at Oluthuone Esplanadi (Kauppakatu 16) at 4 pm. The march to the stadium will leave at 6:20 pm, well in time for the 7 pm kick-off.
